A playful take on our history and our community.
Concept references: The imagery came first but the name just came to me as I was compiling the design. It reference a few well known sayings. "We stand on the shoulder of giants" and "A shoulder to cry on". The design pictures the Henry Atkinson statue outside Lopdell House. Atkinson's influence over the 0604 maybe something many are unaware of. Like gifting the land the Titirangi School is built on or gift the land for dams in the 0604. His engineering knowledge helped construct infrastructure in early Auckland. "A shoulder to cry on" could be a reference to some of the cultural and environment impact of the area.

The stamped mark is based on an actual cancellation mark from the Titirangi Post Office circa 1917 to 1935, at some point the original must have been physically stamped in that location. While I did change the date to December 25, the mark is closely historically accurate to the original. It is unknown where exactly the the Post Office was during this time but records say is was connected to a shop in the village area.
Other design elements:
There is a detail from the sculptures in the Titirangi roundabout and some local weta.
Somewhere on the back of every plate is a small weta.
The decorations are individual applied so plates are slightly different but follow the design of the plate shown in the picture.
This is a onglaze decoration which is permanently fired into the glaze at around 800 degrees celsius. Don't be confused by cheaper sublimation processes this is made to stay on the plate. .
Food safe - Dishwasher safe - Microwave safe.
